Insurance

The cost incurred by the patient at Overlook House for services is due monthly. These payments are not dependent on when or how much the insurance company pays.

We are happy to assist you in processing your insurance claim. However, Overlook House and Christian Science nurses do not maintain the patient records that insurance companies generally require.

HMO's

Your stay at Overlook House is not covered by HMO's, including "Medicare" HMO's.

Medicare

Overlook House participates in the Medicare program, and some of our guests are eligible for Medicare coverage. A committee of Christian Science nurses determines the eligibility based upon the following criteria:

  1. you are at least 65 and/or been issued a Medicare number and card,
  2. you have no first-payment insurance nor are you eligible for Workers' Compensation,
  3. you require the services, oversight, skills and judgment of a Journal-listed Christian Science nurse,
  4. you have executed an "Election for Medicare Benefits in Religious Nonmedical Health Care Institutions" form.

Extent of coverage for those eligible:

You may receive up to 90 days if your needs continue to require the expertise of a Journal-listed nurse; before a new benefit period can begin, 60 days must elapse where no covered care is needed.

You will pay a deductible of $1024 (for 2008) for the first 60 days of coverage. For the next 30 days of coverage you will pay a daily coinsurance premium of $256.
