Donations

Overlook's Blessings Fund enables us to improve our buildings and equipment and give financial assistance to those who need it. To keep pace with demands on the fund, Overlook is increasing it by $3 million.

Your donation will bless Overlook House: "...and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city." (Ezekiel 48:18)

You will bless the guests: "...as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another ... That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing." (I Thessalonians 4:9,12)

You will be blessed: "The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children." (Psalms 115:14)

Millennium Circle

Join the infinite circle of friends of Overlook House contributing $100 per month. An annual renewal of this selfless giving will carry Overlook's healing mission well into the 21st century. Please specify "Millennium Circle" on your check.

"The millennium is a state and stage of mental advancement, going on since ever time was. Its impetus, accelerated by the advent of Christian Science, is marked, and will increase till all men shall know Him (divine Love) from the least to the greatest, and one God and the brotherhood of man shall be known and acknowledged throughout the earth."
Mary Baker Eddy - The First Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany

Trusts

If you have assets that have appreciated over the years, you may wish to set up a trust.

  • The charitable remainder trust gives you an income for life from the trust, while the principal remaining in the trust will go to the facility when the trust ends. This type of trust qualifies in part for an income tax deduction.
  • The charitable lead trust provides an income to the facility during your lifetime, while the remaining principal goes to your heirs. This type of trust saves on transfer and estate taxes.

Life Insurance

  • You may name Overlook House as owner and beneficiary of your existing policy. The value of the policy is tax deductible, as are the annual premium payments you continue to make as contributions to Overlook.
  • You may purchase a Life Endowment policy from Overlook House. The cost is relatively small and is tax deductible. No medical examination is required.
  • You may designate Overlook House as a beneficiary through a group term insurance plan.

Donating Assets

Besides currency, we accept stocks or bonds, land holdings, or salable property such as artwork, antiques, and jewelry. You may also choose to make bequests to Overlook House through your estate.

Subscriptions
We gratefully accept gift subscriptions to the Christian Science Sentinel, Journal, Monitor, and Quarterly. To give a subscription, please enclose a note marked "gift subscription" with your check, and we will order what we need.
Books and Computers
We accept donations of new and used books, computers, and printers. Bound volumes, Bibles, Mrs. Eddy's books, Bible commentaries, dictionaries, and other reference books are also welcome.
Staff Dinners
Our staff must work on Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you would like to contribute to a catered dinner for staff and their families on these holidays, please indicate "for holiday dinners" in a note enclosed with your check.
