Welcome to Overlook House!
June 10, 2009
Overlook House is pleased to announce the sale of both of its original buildings at 2185 and 2187 Overlook Road in Cleveland Heights.
After much prayerful effort, and a lot of elbow grease by many, the Cleveland Heights Planning Commission voted this evening to approve our lot split. That was the last stumbling block to completing sales to The A. M. McGregor Home which has purchased our nursing building. Montlack Realty has purchased the Arms apartment building, and after renovations will begin renting units to college students attending Case Western Reserve University.
Overlook House continues to support Christian Science nurses in the area by supplying equipment and supplies for the home nursing care they continue to offer to those who have the need. We will soon announce a series of meetings throughout the field in Northeast Ohio and the surrounding region to begin unveiling the future role that Overlook House will play in Christian Science nursing. Our vision does involve a new facility, but it will be much smaller and residential in style. We will seek a location more central to highways to make access easier for patients, practitioners, and nurses.
Please return to this web site for regular updates over the next several months.
In the meantime, we want to take this moment to express our gratitude to God, to Mary Baker Eddy for founding a religion based on demonstrable Christianity, to our nursing community, to the past and present friends of Overlook House, to our now former neighbors for their decades of support, to the legal and real estate advisors who have supported this effort on a daily basis for nearly six months including long-time real estate broker and Christian Scientist Farley Helms, and to our dedicated Board of Trustees who have maintained the persistence needed to make these needed transactions.
We rejoice today with a great expectation of the good that awaits us, with the words of Mrs. Eddy, found on page 66 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love."
For the Board of Trustees.
